A tongue photograph records visible surface appearance. A blood test measures specified substances or cells under defined laboratory methods. They answer different questions.
Tongue image
- affected by lighting, camera processing, food, hydration and oral care;
- can describe visible color, coating, shape and surface;
- cannot measure anemia, glucose, hormones, inflammation, infection, liver or kidney function.
Laboratory test
- ordered and interpreted for a specific clinical question;
- uses validated collection, measurement and reference procedures;
- still requires history, examination and professional interpretation.
When testing may matter
Fatigue, weight change, fever, bleeding, thirst, urinary symptoms, jaundice, persistent pain, medication monitoring, and many other concerns may need clinical assessment and appropriate testing. MyZenCheck cannot decide whether testing is unnecessary.
